Rye’s actor’s charity review

RYE actor Martin Wimbush will be raising funds for Rye Scouts and the National Trust when he performs hois new show A Summer Cocktail.

Martin has featured in Eastenders as a vicar and is well known for his one-man show portraying the Duke of Wellington.

Performances of the new show, which he is presenting with Gerald Moon, take place at the Barn Theatre at Smallhythe on Sunday June 15 at 5pm and again at Rye Community Centre on Sunday July 22 at 5pm.

The show, a colourful mix of entertaining classic songs and humorous prose will include material from Noel Coward, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Sammy Kahn, Duke Ellington, Tom Lehrer, Alan Bennett and Flanders and Swan.

With Martin will be friends including Lorna Hall, Rebecca Mason and pianist Elspeth Wrenn

West End star Gerald Moon will perform his own one man show Off The Cuff in the second half, where he looks back over his fifty years in show business, full of theatrical anecdotes, bon mots and comedic quips.

Tickets are £14 for the Barn Theatre Smallhythe (01580 762334) and £10 for Rye Community Centre (01797 222200).
