Rye pupils experience life during war-time

PUPILS at Rye Community Primary School rounded off a study of World War 2 by holding a lively VE Day Party.

Year 5 and 6 children dressed up and cooked Second World War recipes using rationed ingredients.

Pupils also learned how to jive and sang war songs. Parents were invited in to share children’s learning logs with them.

Class teacher Mrs Lovell said: “The whole experience was a fantastic opportunity to bring the joy of the end of WW2 into the classroom”.
