Rye coursegives freshinsight toClassical

PEOPLE will be able to take a Grand Musical Tour of Europe when the Rye branch of the Workers’ Educational Association launches a new course next week.

The course starts on Wednesday February 12 at 2pm at St Mary’s Centre in Lion Street (the old Rye FE Centre).

It will be running for 10 weeks and the two-hour sessions will look at how local geography, climate and culture has influenced classical music in Europe.

Andy Stuart from Rye WEA said: “The tutor Kenneth Roberts is a regular in Rye and aims his course at everyone from complete beginners to those with some knowledge of the subject.

“The course fee is £79 but concessions are available for those on income-related benefits.

In April there will be a timely day school on The Role of Women in WWI which marks the centenary of the start of the Great War and explores how it Great War changed the womens’ lives socially, economically and politically. Ann Kramer presides on Saturday April 5 11am-3pm at St Mary’s Centre in Rye.
