St Mary’s Salehurst: the Sunday Service this week on August 2nd is Family Eucharist at 11am at the Church.

Just a reminder for next Saturday 8th August when the Hastings and Rother Worship Service is taking place at St Mary’s. Where Holy Trinity from Hurst Green and the Community Church in the village will be joining in. The baton arrives at 8am and will then be passed on to Darvel Community at 9am. After such an early start there will be coffee served at the Salehurst Halt after the service. Every one is welcome to attend and if you would like any further information please ring 880238.

Robertsbridge Jazz Club; will be presenting the fabulous Jazz Clarinettist `Pete Long` with the `Ted Beament Trio` on Thursday 13th August. This takes place at Robertsbridge Hall between 8pm – 10.30pm with tickets in advance from Judges Bakery at £8 or on the door on the night at £10.

Robertsbridge Bonfire Society: will be holding its second Boot Sale this summer on Sunday 16th August at Robertsbridge Recreation Ground. To book a pitch please contact Pete on 880468.

This year, Badge Night for the Society will be held on Friday 28th August at Robertsbridge Club. This is the last chance to pay subs for this year. A reminder that if you are not a paid up member you cannot march in procession with RBS at any of the Bonfire events this season.

This years Flower and Pet Show: is to be held on Sunday 6th September. Start getting those flowers and vegetables tended to and those pets primped and preened. This is to be one of the final fundraisers for this year and definitely needs support. Please put the date in your diary and if you have nothing to enter then please try and pop along and enjoy the fun of the afternoon.

Robertsbridge United Juniors FC: will be holding the AGM at Robertsbridge Club on Thursday 20th August starting at 7.30pm. If you have a youngster that would like to play or you have one that does so already please go along and have your say.

On Friday 21st August the juniors will be holding a Junior Disco at Robertsbridge Club from 7pm – 9pm. There will be a BBQ, a raffle with the cost of a family entry ticket at £5.

Open Gardens: at the other end of the village to earlier in the summer. These will be open in Glenleigh Walk on Saturday 22nd August between 11am – 5pm. There will be 10 gardens open plus tea, coffee and cakes in the Tropical Garden at the Ostrich. Entrance tickets cost £5 per adult and covers all of the open gardens, with accompanied children going free. Tickets can be bought in advance from the Floral Boutique and Belle Flowers and on the day at 1 Glenleigh Walk. All proceeds will be going to St Mary’s Church Salehurst.

Glottenham Manor Nursing Home: will be fundraising to help St Michaels Hospice after the fire that destroyed bedding, furniture, medicines, equipment and much more. They will be holding a Name the Bear competition for residents, families and staff to help raise funds.

Many of the staff members have offered to work for a couple of hours and donate their pay for that time to the Hospice.

Scratch cards for the Hospice can be bought from Sandie at the Floral Boutique costing just £1.

Community Church Coffee mornings: are now being held at the shop next to Boots in the village (was the Post Office) on a Thursday morning at 10am.

STOOLBALL: The Ladies played at Pett on Tuesday[21st] and were beaten by 19 runs. New comers Jackie Kuhler[3] and Lou Taylor[16] opened the batting but Jackie was bowled with just 8 runs on the board which bought in Clare Baker[11] who put on 20 before she was bowled. A 27 run partnership between Lou and Penny Clark[28] was broken when Lou was run out while Abigail Fifield[7] put on 22 with Penny before she was bowled with the score on 77-4 and then Abigail was caught. Skipper Melinda Mackay[15n.o.] was joined by Charlie Apps[0] but Charlie was caught first ball and then young Callum Apps[16n.o.] shared a 35 run partnership with Mel to end our 12 overs on 119-6. The hosts lost Kirsten[8] in the third over when she was caught behind the wicket by Di Kitson from the bowling of Charlie[2-1-22] but a 40 run partnership between Tina[52n.o.] and Clare[17] took the hosts to 57-2 when Clare was run out, however Erin[34n.o.] saw the hosts past our total before both retired to let young Louise[3n.o.] and Becky[4n.o.] end the innings on 138-2. Thursday[23rd] saw the Mixed team host Civil Service at The Clappers. We batted first with Josh Lewis[26] and Abigail Fifield[32n.o.] putting on 45 before Josh was bowled which brought JJ Boast[68] into the fray and his 83 partnership with Abigail was broken when he was caught with the score on 128. Graham Clark[3n.o.] saw the 10 overs out with Abigail as we ended on 141-2. We started well with Graham[2-12] getting Pippa[5] caught by Charlie Apps and then bowling Donna[0] to leave the visitors on 19-2 and when Ann[5] was caught by Abigail from Charlie’[1-23] bowling they were on 52-3 but Melissa[21] and Neil[100n.o.] took the visitors to 136 before Melissa was run out. Alan[4] was bowled by JJ[2-1-20] and Lauren[7n.o.] saw the visitors end on 159-5 and an 18 run win. This Sunday[2nd August] is Icklesham Mixed Tournament at 10.30a.m. while the Mixed go back to Icklesham on Tuesday[4th] and the Ladies are at home to Catsfield on Thursday[6th] with both matches starting at 6.45p.m.

FOOTBALL: The Bridge welcome all existing and new players to the training sessions on Wednesday evenings at The Recreation Ground from 6.30p.m.
