FOOTBALL: The Bridge 1st team hosted local rivals Hawkhurst United in the Macron East Sussex Football League Premier Division. Man of the Match Liam Baker saw his shot hit the post after just 2 minutes but on a heavy pitch both sides failed to find the net in the first period. The second half was like the first with plenty of action but little reward for either side until the only goal of the game came 10 minutes from the end when an excellent move was ended with a nice finish by Baker and all three points for The Bridge. The 2nd team played against Division 4 side Battle Baptists II in the Eastbourne Coach Finishers Challenge Cup. The Bridge could not emulate last weeks performance and found their selves 2-0 down after 17 minutes but the second period of the first half saw The Bridge take control with Colin Eade, Alex Kingshott and man of the match Tommy Moyce all going close. Ten minutes into the second half Sam Edmunds was fouled in the box but Matt Winchester’ spot kick was well saved by the home keeper and from then on it was end to end with both sides missing chances until the 65th minute when The Baptists increased their lead. The Bridge now pushed forward to try to reduce the arrears which led to room at the back which the Baptists exploited with another strike 5 minutes from the end to progress into the next round. Tomorrow the 1st team are away to Hollington United at Gibbons Field K.O. 3p.m. while the 2nd team are at home to Division 4 side Bexhill Rovers in the semi-final of the Hastings F.A. Lower Divisions Cup K.O. 2.30p.m. Date for your diary we are holding a ‘Quiz Night’ at Robertsbridge Club on Saturday 2nd April 2016 starting at 7.30p.m. More info next week.

Sally Wadie: Many of you know Sally Wadie in the village other wise known as `Sally the Hairdresser`. She has been very poorly recently and we would like to wish her well and ongoing recovery. Sally has asked us to put this piece in for her. ‘Can I say a big thank you for all the cards and gifts I have received? There have been some really lovely things written. I didn’t realise how much you all liked me !!! This is also just to say a big thank you for all your loyalty in the last 11 years. All I wanted to do was carry on with Phyllis’s ethos of a good service at a reasonable price. Life at the moment feels a bit empty; as you weren’t all just my clients you were my friends as well.’
