BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday November 9, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Liz and Tim Owen; 2, Alan Disney and Roy Skan; 3, Pam Brook and Jenny Charman. The club next meets in the St Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Contact 814220.

CHRISTMAS CARDS: A reminder that St Peter and St James Hospice Christmas Cards are on sale now at the Wednesday Coffee Break in the village hall.

ST MARY’S: Just a week until the Christmas Fair, open 10amd to 12.30pm on November 26 at the village hall. There will be a rainbow of stalls selling gifts and goodies, books, DVDs, cakes, gourmet foods, toys, books and games. Refreshments will be available during the morning and there is a raffle, tombola, games and the Grand Draw. Do pop along and support all those who have worked to put on a super morning. Proceeds to St Mary’s, to Voices in Exile, supporting refugees in Sussex and to our church link in Guinea, West Africa. Sunday Service this week: 8am Morning Prayer; 10am Parish Eucharist and 6.30pm Evensong. The Families Tea Time Service takes place this Sunday at 4pm. Suitable for all children and the young at heart; we tell a simple Bible story, sing songs and get up to fun and games. All this followed by some teatime treat. The travelling cribs are being prepared for the journey between families in Ringmer. The cribs are full of knitted nativity figures and come with a section of books to help you retell the Christmas story during Advent. Book a time to have the crib in your home email [email protected] and celebrate with a Christingle at the 10am Service on Sunday December 4. An orange, a red ribbon, a candle and some raisins and sweets. What does it all mean? Come along and find out.

RAMBLERS: Our walk on November 13 was a five-miler, from Firle Beacon car park heading South towards Stump Bottom. We then headed North West that took us back up to the Bo-Peep car park and then back along the ridge of The Southdowns Way. It was a glorious sunny day which enabled us to have fantastic views of the sea all the way to Eastbourne. Our next walk will be on Sunday November 27, meeting as usual in the car park behind the village shops at 10am. It will be about 5 miles around Rushlake Green. LINE DANCING: Steps (Line) Dance Club are holding a free introductory session on Monday, 12.15pm til 1.15pm for Absolute Beginners at the start of their new weekly class at Ringmer Football Club. PAST EVENTS: The Brownies recently visited the church and enjoyed a visit to the bells and to have a go at hand bells. They had a fabulous time and went away with a smile and a sticker.

Remembrance Sunday in Ringmer saw crowds gathered around the War Memorial in the autumn sun and a good turnout from all of the uniformed groups in the village. Thank you to everyone who contributed to a successful event.
