Retirement staff receive awards

Peterhouse retirement complex in Old Town is celebrating following success at the Great South East Care Awards 2010 held in Brighton.

Finalists from all over the South East region attended the event at the Brighton Hilton Metropole Hotel, which was hosted by Sally Gunnell.

Peterhouse’s general manager Lesley Crisford won the category of care employer of the year for her work at the retirement complex, which is owned by the charity NABS.

The panel of judges praised Peterhouse for its team focus and said this meant “all roles are important”, and with investment into staff to help them progress and develop.

Having received her award, Lesley commented: “Peterhouse offers a range of care facilities to the elderly.

“We believe every member of our staff is important, providing a supportive environment for all staff, encouraging training and development to provide quality care, ensuring that we have a competent, confident, caring team”.

Hazel Silverlock, the care manager at Peterhouse, was one of six shortlisted as a finalist in the category of Care Home Registered Manager Award.

Lesley will now go on to represent Peterhouse at the National Finals in spring 2011 which will be held at the Royal Courts of Justice in London .
