Retired Middleton couple celebrate degree success

Jeanette and John Clarke, 61 and 77 respectively, have ably proved that life as an undergraduate is not merely the preserve of teenagers.

Following an ever-growing trend of mature students, the two aspiring artists have completed their five-year part-time degree studies.

As Jeanette, of Kingsmead Road said, it has been a rewarding

challenge for the pair, who believe the hard work has been worth it.

She said: "There were actually people of quite mixed ages which was good to see and it was wonderful to have access to the facilities at

the college."
