Queen to join Yapton celebrations

YAPTON and Ford Village Hall will be having regal honours as it shares its birthday with the Queen on Saturday (June 14).

And to mark the occasion, the royal will be paying a visit to the building – well, almost.

The village hall, in Main Road, will have a cardboard cutout of the monarch as part of the site’s 25th anniversary celebration.

As well as seeing the life-size model of Her Majesty, visitors will also have the chance to join in with a range of other events on the day.

The birthday bash will open from 2pm with a fête inside the village hall.

Revellers can expect to see a range of attractions during the indoor event, with tombolas and gifts being sold by some of the community groups who use the facility.

The fête will continue until 4.30pm, when there will be a small interlude in the action.

Then, at 7pm, a Beatles tribute band will be taking centre-stage for a five-hour musical feast.

The concert will be broken up by three breaks where visitors will be able to buy a drink at the hall’s licensed bar.

The show is set to finish at about midnight.

Tickets are limited and are £12 per person.

They need to be purchased or reserved in advance.
