Pupils reunite to celebrate their GCSE exam success

Robertsbridge Community College celebrate their successes in the GCSE exams and collect their certificates

It was a time to reflect on all the hard work, a culmination of five years of effort, enjoyment, some tears; and finally to feel very proud.

Headteacher, Simon Potten welcomed them back, exalting “It is an honour and privilege to greet you after all your endeavours. As a cohort you were full of spirit”.

Having highlighted some of his fond memories of past few years, he concluded, “What we believe and know is that you do have the ability to go on to even greater things in your future lives…. never settle for second best.”

Following the presentation of GCSE certificates and a plethora of trophies for subject and endeavour awards, Mr Giles Perrin, Headteacher of Claremont Senior School and guest speaker addressed the assembly.

Drawing on his own experiences of life and the catchphrase, “It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that do it”, he developed the ethos that attitude is as important as qualifications.

He congratulated the former students on their achievements, offering that while these qualifications will open doors, attitude will push them forwards.

The culmination to his address was, “Aim high, work hard. Do things you enjoy – keep taking opportunities”.

Following thanks from Head Girl and Boy Tilly Jones and Reilly McDonnell, everybody retired to the foyer to enjoy a buffet reception.
