£50 PARKING SHOCK FOR SHOPPER

A WOMAN was fined Â£50 after parking twice in the Lewes Tesco car park within the space of three hours.

Diane Payne, an Isfield teacher, said: 'I shopped in Tesco on and then left, looking for somewhere to have a coffee.

I couldn't find anywhere in the town centre so I went back to Tesco and spent 1 hours in the coffee shop.

'When I came out, I had a 50 parking fine. The sign said shoppers are not permitted to return after purchasing their goods for three hours.

'I could have returned because I wanted to do some more shopping. I'm not paying and I'm not going to patronise Tesco any more.'

Later, after a call from the Express, a spokesman for Tesco said: 'We are sorry for any distress caused. If the lady goes to the customer service desk, the fine will be rescinded.'
