David Chace, a Liberal Democrat councillor for Brookfield Ward on Littlehampton Town Council, became the town’s first citizen during the annual meeting on Thursday, May 14. He took over from Tracey Baker, who he deputised for for the last 12 months.

Speaking at the meeting, he said: “It is a great honour and I am truly humbled to be elected by my fellow town councillors to be our town mayor. I would like to thank them for entrusting me with the position of mayor of our wonderful town.

“I have had a fantastic year as deputy mayor, and I am looking forward to the challenges of being your mayor for the next year supported by this council and my wife Sharon as my consort.”

David will be raising money for the Creative Heart Community Hub, formerly the Tamarisk Centre in Beach Road, Sea Cadets Littlehampton, the 1087 Squadron Air Training Corps and the 4th Littlehampton Scouts.

Liberal Democrat councillor Michelle Molloy will become deputy mayor.

The mayor will have a column to update our readers about his work. Email [email protected] to contact him.
