Police uncovercannabis factory

A FATHER and son have been arrested after police uncovered a cannabis factory at a property in Guestling on Tuesday.

Police, acting on information, raided the property and discovered 163 plants in a Portakabin in the garden.

A further 155 plants were found being grown in an HGV trailer at the property.

A total of 1,413 grammes of buds, along with several black bin liners of herbal cannabis were also seized from within the premises along with cash , computer and bank details.

Police are now using the material to carry out a financial investigation.

A father and son were arrested at the scene and are currently on police bail while investigations continue .

Last year a 72 year old man and a 41 year old man from Brede were arrested by the Rye Policing Team after officers stumbled across a cannabis factory at Bexhill. They initially appeared in court last June.

Police found themselves waist deep in cannabis plants while helping bailiffs repossess a warehouse at Brett Drive.

Hidden behind a reinforced steel door they were amazed to discover more than 200 cannabis plants in various stages of growth, and with an estimated street value of around £30,000

A 16 year old Vietnamese boy was tending the plants.

Rye Police take a proactive stance to drugs misuse and have carried out a number of successful raids in the Rye area.

They have also used specially trained sniffer dogs to detect possible drugs users in Rye pubs.
