Police thank public for help with arrests

BATTLE Police have thanked the public for a series of successful arrests.

Sergeant Paul Masterson said: “This week a big thank you goes out to Battle Shop Watch for their quick thinking and support following a bulk shoplifting in the town.

“Members alerted the police via the Shop Watch radio, the suspects were followed and good descriptions of the offenders and their vehicle resulted in their arrest in Bexhill. Two further arrests of men from Kent were the result of a member of the public alerting us to the suspicious activity of the two around scrap metal in the Bodiam area.

“All five of these arrests would not have happened without the positive action of members of the public and show what can be done when people assist the police. We rely on this kind of information so please keep the calls coming in and we will keep arresting people.”
