Police seek witness for vital clues

A Middleton woman could hold vital clues to a possible case of witness intimidation.

The woman was in Middleton Road when a man approached an off-duty police officer.

The officer was walking two dogs along Sea Lane at about 1.20pm last Wednesdaywhen the driver of a green Land Rover with a 55 registration walked up to him and began speaking.

The policeman was then followed by the man in his vehicle who again approached and spoke to him.

He has been described as being about 50 years old with a ruddy complexion and wearing silver rimmed spectacles.

The brief exchange concerned an ongoing case in which the officer is involved. But Sussex Police are unable to discuss the specifics of the matter.

DC Jo French, of Arun CID, said: 'There was a woman on the south side of Middleton Road about 25m away from this man's vehicle.
