Police said the thieves had two young children with them at the time.

At about 8.40pm on Thursday, July 23, the two men, one in his thirties and one in his sixties, along with two young children who appeared to be under ten, called at the home of a 50-year old woman in Hurstfield, Lancing, a police statement said.

They came to view two Yorkshire Terrier puppies that were advertised for sale.

But the men then grabbed the puppies and ran from the house, getting into a small blue vehicle which drove off.

In running from the house one of the men assaulted the woman, but police said she was not seriously hurt and did not require medical treatment.

Detective Constable Laura Webb said; “If you saw these men in Lancing that evening, or have seen the puppies since, or have any other information, please contact us on [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 1584 of 23/07.”
