PICTURES: Flash flooding closes roads

Shoreham and Southwick drivers may struggle to travel east this afternoon due to a closed road in Portslade.

A part of Old Shoreham Road has been closed by police due to flash flooding, delaying drivers coming through the area near the Texaco garage and Mayberry Garden Centre.

Residents living nearby have put out planks of wood and protection outside their front gates, to tackle the level of water.

Ham Road in Shoreham has also been partly closed near the Adur Civic Centre.

West Sussex County Council said the water level has now dropped, but the road remains closed because of damage to a drain.
