Churches Together in Southwick and the Lighthouse Church in Fishersgate want to encourage people to plant sunflowers in front gardens, be it in pots, borders or balconies. Laura Field said: “It was a fabulous day and we have had some wonderful feedback from people who picked up seeds and from those that handed them out. It really made people smile!
“It’s not too late for people to get involved and is really quite simple, get some sunflower seeds, get them planted, share the spare seeds or seedlings with family, friends and neighbours and get the sunflowers growing. Help to create a smile of sunflowers all across the area, making us all a little happier.
“Thanks go to the people who hosted and helped on the sunflower stations, to all those who donated compost, pots, seeds and seedlings, as well as to Adur Markets, Portslade Allotment and Horticultural Society, Southwick & Fishersgate Horticultural Society and Rushfields Garden Centre Poynings.”
