Henfield care workers awarded for 75 years of service

Three care workers at a Henfield care home have received awards to mark a combined 75 years of service at Barchester Healthcare.

Pauline Short, now senior care assistant, started at Barchester in April 1990; Sharon Haigh, now care practitioner, started February 1990; and Louise Pocock, now administrator, started April 2005 and all have worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Louise Pocock said: “Red Oaks is a lovely place to work, it doesn’t seem like five minutes since I started and no two days are ever the same.

“Everyone is dedicated to the same cause, ensuring that our residents receive the best possible care. The staff are more like extended family than colleagues.

“Compared to Sharon, Pauline and the other long service staff that work here I am the new girl even after 15 years!”

Linda Ryan, general manager of Red Oaks, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 75 years of loyal service with Pauline, Sharon and Louise who have all demonstrated their dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Red Oaks when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with all!”

Red Oaks care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers. Red Oaks provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 64 residents from respite care to long term stays.

Jane McFarlane, employee services director at Barchester, said: “I’m always pleased to hear stories about the long service of Barchester staff and am delighted that these dedicated staff have achieved this milestone. It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”
