Fire breaks out at Eastbourne home

One person was taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a house in Eastbourne early this morning (Saturday, April 27).

Firefighters attended the scene in Southbourne Road at around 7.15am.

The ground floor of the building suffered extensive damage.

Several fire engines attended the scene of the blaze.

A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said: “We were called at 7:11am this morning to a residential fire on Southbourne Road, Eastbourne at a semi-detached property.

“Two appliances from Eastbourne were in quick attendance and crews used BA and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire on the ground floor. One male with minor injuries was taken to hospital in the care of SECAMB.

“The cause was believed to be accidental, pending further investigation.”
