Chris Fry, 40, from Old Town, has been using his 3D printers to get much-needed equipment like face shields to key workers. On Friday (April 10) he started a GoFundMe page to support the charitable project.

The senior IT systems engineer said, “People have been incredibly thankful and positive and have been saying ‘you are amazing’. We, as a group, have produced 2,500 face shields so far.”

Chris is part of a Facebook Group called Eastbourne Makers for NHS and Keyworkers, which has come together to effectively distribute personal protective equipment. The group is free to anyone who would like to join and contribute.

Chris said, “If anybody wants to donate, that would be fantastic. If anyone wants to contribute, feel free to reach out. It doesn’t have to be money or materials, a car would be really useful.”

Chris said once his new printers are delivered he should be able to produce 120 face shields a day, and that he has been providing the equipment for doctors, nurses, police officers and GPs.

Paul Chipp-Smith managing director and founder of JAGtechnic Ltd, a specialist Jaguar and Land Rover vehicle company in Eastbourne, said, “JAGtechnic has got involved as we believe in supporting our local community and especially the NHS. We donated £250 to the fundraising appeal and have promoted the appeal through email and social media.”
