Covid-19 death toll in East Sussex hospitals rises to 37

The number of people who have died with Covid-19 in East Sussex hospitals has risen to 37, NHS England has confirmed.

The latest figures, released on Tuesday afternoon (April 14), showed ten people died between April 9 and April 13.

The figures relate to death at Eastbourne’s DGH, Conquest Hospital and Bexhill Hospital – all of which are operated by the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

These figures do not include any deaths that occurred outside hospital, including care homes.

As of Monday (April 13), there had been 351 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in East Sussex, Public Health England figures showed.

In Brighton and Hove, there had been 213 cases and in West Sussex there was a further 398 cases.

In Kent, 1,552 people have tested positive for Covid-19, the figures showed.
