Amberley pub celebrates fourth successive honour

A PUB in Amberley is celebrating one “ale” of a victory after it was named the best pub in the area.

The Sportsman Inn has been presented with the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) accolade for the Arun and Adur district for the fourth year running, for providing top service and championing traditional ale.

And on Friday (June 29) Arundel and South Downs MP Nick Herbert, visited the pub, in Rackham Road, to see for himself just what it is that makes the Sportsman so special.

Mr Herbert praised staff for achieving the prestigious title. He said: “I was delighted to hear that the Sportsman Inn had been recognised by CAMRA with this award.

“The location of the pub offers visitors spectacular views to enjoy well-kept real ale and good food.

“I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Sportsman and experiencing the warm welcome which is given to all visitors. I could immediately see why they have won a CAMRA award once again.”

Pubs throughout the area were judged on beer quality, the standard of service and the atmosphere in the pub.
