'I am a bit of a monarchist myself,' said Colin, who has been a butcher in Lewes for 35 years. 'I queued nearly five hours recently to go past the Queen Mother's coffin at Westminster Hall.

'I produced these patriotic sausages because I wanted the Lewes celebrations to go off with a bit of a bang-er. And if I sell out, I can make more.

'Every time anyone has a bite from one of these special sausages they should feel a surge of pride in their monarchy.'

Colin used natural cake colourings to achieve his sausage multi-hues.
