Park plan drop-in sessions

Meanwhile, Rother District Council is inviting the public to assist with an online questionnaire about park usage.

Rother has been awarded an initial 44,500 grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund to plan the park's 1.5m regeneration under the EPIC project - Egerton Park Innovation and Conservation.

Rother is currently consulting on how and when the park is used, by whom and how it could be improved.

Now Rother parks development officer Rebecca Owen says: "If you are a user of the park, or if you live locally but don't use it (why not?) it would be really helpful if you could complete an online questionnaire at www.greenstat.org.uk over the next few weeks and encourage friends or family to do the same."

The drop-in sessions are from 9.30am until 5pm. They will be looking at the park's history as well as it's current use and ideas for change.

People with stories to tell about past experiences there or old photographs to share are particularly welcome at the sessions.

Rebecca Owen says the greenSTAT questionnaire is being promoted as widely as possible because it enables the public to comment on any park or open space in Rother, whether council-owned or not, and on the open spaces services provided by the authority.

"The data gathered will be used to inform not only the regeneration of Egerton Park, but all our strategies and management plans relating to open spaces."
