Overturned lorry causes commuter chaos

MOTORISTS were faced with a rush hour nightmare which continued long into the night, after a lorry overturned.

The HGV had joined the westbound A27 at the Adur Flyover, when the driver lost control, at around 4pm yesterday.

Police closed the road and traffic was diverted onto the Old Shoreham Road as far back as Hove.

At 8pm last night, traffic coming through Southwick and Shoreham was still stationary, with massive tailbacks affecting traffic on the A23.

The road was closed until early this morning. No one was seriously injured in the accident.
