The department provides services from seven sites across the county including Bexhill Hospital, Conquest Hospital, Crowborough War Memorial Hospital, Eastbourne DGH, Lewes Victoria Hospital, Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital and Uckfield Community Hospital, and sees 29,000 patients a month across all specialities.

A spokesman for the trust said: “The team was nominated by Lorraine Mason, Workforce Development Manager, for the way they are working together across the seven hospitals to ensure that a patient receives the same high level of service and care regardless of which site they visit.

“The General Outpatients Matrons have been working together to improve and develop processes, procedures and documentation and to review the skill mix of their staff, so that all seven departments are working to the same standard.”

The nomination read: “I have recently worked with this group of staff who really are demonstrating the Trust’s values in the way they are trying to work together and improve patient care. The team shows great empathy and compassion for the well being of their patients and also sees the value of working as a team. It really was a privilege to work with such a forward thinking and proactive group of staff.”
