The people's post office

I'M very saddened to think that the "people's post office", as it is called, is losing all the local branches in Lancing and Sompting, although demonstrations and petitions have been organised to stop it.

There will be only one left; the general post office in North Road, Lancing.

I went to this branch on the afternoon of Friday, February 8, for a 48p stamp to send a letter to my great grand-daughter in Ireland.

One person was in front of me, and one being served.

To my amazement I waited 15 minutes as out of seven windows, only one was open, hence my long wait.

What on earth will happen when the local branches close next month?

I cannot imagine.

Instead of paying out for expensive ads in the Daily Mail, of which there were two in the same paper at one stage, and also paying celebrities in TV ads, all that money could be ploughed back into keeping our local branches open.

Taking people's livelihoods away doesn't make sense to me.

How can they call it the people's post office when they take no notice of the people and the branches won't be there for the people?
