Seafront cycle track is worse than walking along A23

I AM to express my concern with the cycle path which has been installed along Lancing Widewater.

The cyclists are using it like a race track to get from A to B as quick as possible totally ignoring the danger to children, old people, the disabled and animals.

I have just witnessed a dog being run over and badly cut.

I know there has already been accidents, how long has it got to be and what will it take for the council to realise it has made a big mistake opening this area up to cyclists who when you ask them to slow down you get abuse hurled at you?

It was once a place of safety and peace for families and senior citizens now it is more like walking down the A23.

They ride with no hands, two abreast and I have even seen a father riding one-handed with a baby of about one year perched on the crossbar, all going at great speed.

The people at the kiosk do put a sign out for them to slow down but they take little or no notice.

The council have not supplied matting across the top of the beach so people can walk in safety with a bit of comfort, people now have to have eyes in the back of their head as you can't hear bikes.

There is a very serious accident waiting to happen.

So, Adur council, please put matting across the top of the beach so people can walk in safety if you insist on keeping this race track.
