Unhappy with the three main parties

In deciding which party to support in elections I am probably one of the few people who takes the time to read their manifestos.

Labour cannot be trusted on the economy but I am also very unhappy with the two parties in Government.

After the speech on Europe I was inclined to support the Tories but I don’t agree with their stance on gay marriage.

As Lord Ashcroft, a Tory party donor said, Cameron’s speech on Europe has cheered Tories but it has not moved voters. The Tories have completely lost their way. Friends of mine who have been paid up Conservatives for many years have not renewed their membership because of the Tory stance on gay marriage but are also unhappy with the erosion of the Green Belt and the inability of the Government to impose entry controls on East Europeans.

A week is a long time in politics. Nevertheless, it seems very unlikely that the Tories will win an outright majority at the 2015 general election.

Assuming they stand, I shall probably vote for UKIP at the West Sussex County Council elections in May as it is time for a change and they are the only party committed to the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

Interestingly, hardly any existing county councillors are under 40 which is a great pity!
