Further to the ongoing correspondence on cyclists and cycling in general; it was bad enough before the Pandemic, but now people riding bikes on the pavement has become an even bigger problem due to the vastly increased numbers of them.

Some time ago I was nearly hit head on by a male on a bicycle in Devonshire Road. I was able to avert being hurt by grabbing his handle bars. When I said he shouldn’t be on the pavement I was told to eff off and get an effing life!

It’s against the law to ride a bicycle on the pavement.

The Highway Code states in the Rules for Cyclists: You must not cycle on a pavement. Laws HA 1835 sect 72 & R(S)A 1984 sect 129

Whatever the militant cyclists might say in their defence; the law is the law. The pavements are for pedestrians and always have been.
