Terrorised by teenagers for the last six months

FOR six months now there has been a group of teenagers, both boys and girls, terrorising the area where I live.

They congregate in the toddlers play area, drinking, shouting, playing loud music, swearing, being generally abusive and also ride their mopeds on the pavements and green areas, sometimes with three people on the moped and with no helmets on.

They have caused damage to my property, and been abusive both to my husband and my son.

Sometimes this has gone on until 4am.

The police have been phoned practically every day.

Sometimes they come out, sometimes not, and still these teenagers are terrorising the area.

Maybe I should sort them out myself, as it's obvious to me that the police aren't interested.

Sgt Paul Stevens, of Littlehampton Police, replied: We are aware of the ongoing issues being experienced by the residents of this area, concerning anti-social behaviour being exhibited by what appears to be a very small group of individuals.

Some of these individuals are children of residents and some are not.

This behaviour has included shouting, swearing, throwing stones and the anti-social use of mopeds being ridden on footpaths.

I am keen to work with residents to seek a resolution to this ongoing problem and I have this week put in place a number of actions to monitor the behaviour of these individuals and, where necessary, put us in a position that we can robustly enforce the law.

This may include the prosecution for public order offences and the seizure of mopeds which have been ridden in an anti-social manner.

If any resident wishes to speak to me directly about the issue, I am contactable on 0845 6070999 extension 86251 or by email [email protected]
