Stupid fishing idea

FOLLOWING the article on the front page of last week's Observer, I have just sent the following email to Rother Council:

I HAVE just read the article in the Observer regarding the plans about beach fishing in Bexhill. What a stupid idea this is. I moved to Bexhill two years ago and took up beach fishing last year. Doing this meant I could have a hobby involving the sea and also get some fresh air. Whenever I go fishing, I always make sure I am not near anybody on the beach. I have had only one occasion when a family came to the beach after me and sat about 20 feet from me. I have never had any complaints that I am a nuisance. In fact, every time I am fishing, someone always comes for a chat and to see how I am doing. It is a very social pastime.

It is to Bexhill’s credit and advantage that fishing takes place on the beach. It is social, healthy, good fun but mark my words – not always successful fish wise!

To improve Bexhill seafront, why don’t you ban overnight parking for people having a freebie holiday? It makes the front look like a travellers’ site.

I hope this says it all. Don’t let them spoil the fun for some people. Enough damage has already been done to Bexhill with the new gardens. I love it here and it is not doing any harm Whatever next? No bathing in the sea on a weekday? Keep left when walking on the front? No ice creams?

Bureaucracy!
