Strange behaviour in the dark

I attended a film screening on the afternoon of October 12.

Midway through the film, two members of staff came into the auditorium, walked down the left-hand side, then across in front of the front row, halfway up the right-hand side before eventually sitting in two seats, in I guess row E or F.

They turned off their torches and sat for about 30 seconds, before turning torches back on and exited the auditorium by the route whence they came.

After the performance, I queried the need and purpose of this strange event with a member of staff.

She suggested that they were showing latecomers to their seats. They weren’t.

Another suggestion was that they were showing a member of the audience to a toilet. They weren’t.

After these two suggestions, I was referred to the duty manager. She suggested that they were checking that no one was filming the film. They weren’t.

Another suggestion was that they were sitting in the usherettes seats. They weren’t.

At this point the suggestions ran out, with nobody any the wiser.

To the duty manager’s credit she said that she would mention this to all of her staff.

I remain yours, ‘utterly mystified’
