Repair or removetown hall netting

I AM writing about something which concerns and upsets me, but something other people regard as a joke.

It is now three weeks since I looked up outside Bexhill town hall and saw several dead pigeons trapped in netting put up outside the precious building.

I have telephoned the council three times and contacted an animal sanctuary.

I believe the netting should be removed completely or at least repaired to ensure no more birds become trapped. Those that have already died should be removed.

Pigeons may be pests to some people, but I think it is illegal to leave animals in a trap to die.

I am thinking of putting up a big sign outside the precious town hall saying: “Look up and see dismembered birds blowing in the wind.”

God knows there are not any other attractions in Bexhill: it might prove to be a tourist draw.

Editor’s note: As reported in our story about this issue last week, Rother District Council was contacted by the Observer and it has agreed to repair holes in the netting “within the next few weeks” to ensure birds do not become trapped.
