I await with baited breath to see if H Elmari’s letter of July 17 will get a straight answer and am astonished Mrs Sherwood is not allowed to air her views in a letters’ column headed Your Views.

Hastings has suffered from the 1940s from the shift of its core business tourism.

Package holidays did for the home-spun bucket and space two weeks in Blighty holiday, along with the decline of the fleet fishing it has left a hole in what was the town’s economic engine.

The 40 thieves, as Robert Tressell called the Hastings council, have plugged the hold by making Hastings a destination for the injuries of recreational drugs, including alcohol.

All are welcome to fill the beds of the old boarding houses and B&Bs.

With no real way out by road or rail the cancer festers.

Neil Cranham must be congratulated for reminding us of the post war socialist Utopia that allowed working class people access to first class housing, grammar school education and grants to progress to university, not forgetting the stench that is still emitted from raising a poll tax.
