Interesting times in store for Rye

The elections for Rye Town Council are over for the next four years, and we have a new mix of minds representing the town at the lowest, but increasingly important, level of governance.

We shall be living in what the Chinese call “interesting times”; I suspect that there are shocks in store for all of us.

On a purely personal note, I was very sorry that both Lorna Hall and Frank Palmer chose to stand down; their many good works will live on.

As for my neighbour David Wright, I can only wish him well, and ask that he be given credit where it is due. I sometimes did not agree with what his policies, which did not mean that it was he who was wrong. Nevertheless, he succeeded in trying to make Landgate a better place to live, and for that all of us who live here should be grateful.
