Community funding is deserved

I FINALLY got round to visiting the Ropetackle Arts Centre during late-night Christmas shopping in December.

I was so impressed with what was going on there, from Father Christmas's grotto to local schoolchildren showing their musical skills and an open mic performance.

Since then, I've enjoyed Richard Durrant's varied musical evenings.

The recent, sell-out Julie Felix concert was tremendous and I am looking forward to Herbie Flowers' jazz breakfasts.

Now Ropetackle's funding is in jeopardy.

Local people are trying so hard to make it work, many giving up their free time to volunteer there.

If ever community funding was deserved by a venue, it is deserved by the Ropetackle centre.
