Joe Brock, Collyer’s Head of Faculty for Mathematics and Science, was delighted: “This was a chance for students to experience a real world application of both their Electronics and Physics lessons. As a Collyer’s alumnus, Louise is an inspiration to current students to see what can be achieved through hard work and application. Louise also kindly took time out to give the students some excellent advice on careers and the qualifications required to get into this field of engineering.”

The visit also included a unique insight into the technical problems and engineering challenges involved in this exciting area.

Assistant Principal Melanie Russell said: “What a wonderful opportunity! I’m thrilled that our students were given this chance and it is so touching when our former students remember us so fondly and are keen to help the next generation. We have a talented group of students coming through and for many the sky may not be the limit!”

Joe Brock added: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to Louise, Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd and James Williams, also ex Collyer’s, for being such great supporters. The students had a fantastic experience.”
