Cinema history

Whilst a cinema for Littlehampton is very much in the news each week, your columnist Chris Adam Smith and your readers may be interested in what was said about one of our old cinemas, The Palladium, back in 1948, when it was lot 164 in a sale of 366 freeholds in the town.

It was described as ‘situated in an important road linking the High Street to the proposed arterial road (see town planning scheme plan), and occupying a site rapidly to become one of the most important cinema positions in the town’.

A lot has happened/not happened in the 60-odd years that have passed.
