An evening of celebration for Cranleigh students

The evening was attended by over 250 parents, staff and governors, all there to support the students that had been nominated for a prize this year.

The evening opened with a speech from the Head Boy Connor Tomlinson and Head Girl Abi Bull, welcoming the guests.

This was followed by, a speech from Glebelands’ Headteacher, Mrs Hutchinson, who said “On behalf of us all I would like to congratulate the many students sitting in this hall for their significant achievements. They are a credit to you their parents as well as to themselves, and we are very proud of them and their contributions to Glebelands this year.”

This was followed by an excellent and enjoyable performance from the school choir, ‘Glebelands in Harmony’.

Prizes were then awarded in each subject to the highest achieving student in the year group and the student who made the greatest effort over the past academic year.

Prizes were also awarded to students who had made the greatest contribution to their tutor group, the 5 students in each year group who had received the most commendations during the year and to the 29 students who had 100 per cent attendance.

The Harry Watts memorial prize for humanity was awarded to Lucy Edwards, a Year 10 student, who was nominated for the work she has done in promoting the work of the Tyler Robinson Foundation, a charity that works closely with the families of children suffering from cancer.

Headteacher Mrs Hutchinson said, “This has been a wonderful evening as everyone is here to recognise the hard work and achievements of our students. It is the icing on the cake after a very successful year.”

Thanks were also given to the Glebelands Trust who donated the prizes, the staff, governors and the parents for encouraging their children to be the best they can be and for attending the Celebration Evening to show their support.
