LETTER: Hazards on new stretch of road

However as a daily user of this road, I am shocked at the number of motorists who seem to think this stretch of road is a continuation of the A24 and drive this road often considerably exceeding the 40mph speed limit.
This road splits the housing development and is used by pedestrians crossing this road, notably school children getting to the bus stops.

Hide AdWhilst there are pedestrian crossings, the amount of times I have seen drivers speed up to beat the changing lights or use the junctions as a U-turn rather than use the roundabouts either end of the road leave me to believe it won’t be long before there is an accident or worse a fatality.
Did the developers and WSCC not realise that a two lane straight bit of road is going to encourage speeding?
I implore drivers to take note of the speed limits, they are there for a reason and is saving a few minutes off your journey worth the risk of causing injury or death?
