Just A Minute - August 1

SOME people are almost indispensable.

As the BBC decides who, if anyone, could possibly replace Humphrey Littleton on "I'm sorry I haven't a clue", avid listeners are reminded how much his voice and humour are associated with that programme. And yet, as we know from Countdown - now without Richard Whiteley, even though we miss famous faces and voices, other people can step into their shoes.

And so what about the rest of us who do not have this public profile ... how special are we? At times we may not feel special at all, but then we might recall that the Bible tells us our names are written on God's hands, and that even the hairs on our heads are numbered.

Indispensable? Perhaps not, but loved and cherished by God who knows and values each one of us .... however famous or unknown we might be.
