Good Communications

I had also hoped that I would have received some feed back. The Webmaster tells me that the site does get a considerable number of 'hits' but unfortunately due to abuses of the system it is currently not possible to run the live comment section. Hopefully this will soon be possible but in the meantime I have to rely on colleagues, friends and relatives, including the wonderful journalist friend who said 'I do like your style'.

Since this is a website article and you have got as far as reading it I can of course assume that you will be familiar with the technology.

Politics is all about communications but unfortunately, as in many fields, some are better than others at carrying it out. As Politicians we use a number of ways of communicating, most of which involve either the written or spoken word. We also do our utmost to ensure that our message is clear and can not be misunderstood or misinterpreted.

Communication is a two way thing. People do have to listen. I meet so many potential voters, on the doorstep when campaigning, who say 'I am not interested '“ You politicians are all the same.' No we are not all the same.

It is conference season, starting with the TUC this week. You may have heard the Chancellor this afternoon in his speech trying desperately not to be misinterpreted.

Next week it is the turn of the Liberal Democrats. Please take time to listen and read some of the messages we will be transmitting. I hope they will be reported well by the national media, by which I mean clearly and with no reinterpretation. It will of course give me plenty of subject matter for future articles.
