Shoppers will then have the chance to see it as it will be paraded along the High Street about 2.25pm before heading into Queensway and Canada Grove to Longford Road on its way out of the town.

It will go up the A29 to Westergate as it heads to Arundel.

Norman Dingemans, Arun District Council’s cabinet member for economic and cultural development with responsibility for tourism, said: “We want everyone to remember forever the moment that the torch passed through Arun.

“We are looking forward to working with local people to showcase the district and to welcome the flame and support members of the community who have been chosen to run with it.”
