OLd Town to have say in planning town's future

OLD Town residents have an opportunity on Friday, September 19 to say how they would like their part of the town to be developed.

Pebsham has become the first part of Bexhill to develop a Local Action Plan. One of the first fruits of that is the announcement of Rother District Council's proposals for refurbishing Pebsham's playpark and recreation ground in response to the wishes of local children. The needs of young people had been identified by Pebsham residents as a priority in their Local Action Plan.

Ian Coleman, local action plan development worker for Rother Voluntary Action, will chair next Friday's 6.30pm meeting in the residents' lounge at Yvonne Robertson House in Hastings Road.

The meeting is scheduled to last an hour.

Ian says: "Bexhill needs an Action Plan to help identify what sort of town the community wants Bexhill to become and what the priorities for action are.

"Today, communities are being invited on an increasingly frequent basis to have a say on what services they would like to see in their neighbourhood and how they would like to see them delivered.

"Almost every Government agency now asks these questions on an annual basis."

The plan will contain specific things that people in Bexhill have identified as important to them, both on a town-wide and on a "my street" basis.
