OFF to play in the USA

STUDENTS from Ringmer Community College are travelling stateside to spread a little music to the residents of Lewes, Delaware, USA.

The school is taking 88 students, aged 11 to 16.

The youngsters have a variety of musical talents, from operatic singers to woodwind orchestras.

They will be playing at a number of events in the town and will meet the mayor of Lewes, Delaware. James L Ford, who has written to the school expressing his hopes that the trip will help forge the two towns in friendship.

A school spokesman said: 'This is going to be a very exciting experience for the students. We hope this will help them to learn more about music, but also widen their cultural horizons.'
