Race Night: If you fancy a little flutter, then the Rose & Crown in Beckley is the place to be on Saturday (12th) when Northiam Bonfire Society will be holding their next Race Night. Local businesses have sponsored the races '“ horse 'owners' will win £30 '“ and betting is 50p a time! Horses are on sale over the bar now, but horses in the final race, which will win £120!, will be auctioned just before it starts. We will be under starter's orders from 7pm.

Chitiwiri: This weekend is the last chance to add to the collection in aid of the feeding programme in Chitiwiri, as donartions will be picked up first thing on Monday morning. If you have any unwanted clothes, pairs of shoes, curtains, bed linen (NOT duvets), bags, belts, perfume etc and would like to donate them to help raise money for the community of Chitwiri, please put them in tied bin liners, or call at Forge House for green bags,. Call 0790 333 8614, or 252108 to arrange a convenient time to drop them off.

Boot Sale: Northiam Village Hall Trust’s last Boot Sale of the season will be held on Sunday, starting at 9am. Call Marie Edwards 01797 253264 if you would like a stall. The Trust are fundraising to repair the car park, which has suffered the ravages of the winter (along with most of our lanes!), and will be holding a Jumble Sale on 28th May, so please remember them if you are having a Spring clear-out.

Messy Church: Everyone is very welcome to Messy Church on Sunday afternoon, starting at 4pm in St Mary’s. Children and adults come together to worship, hear stories, make creative crafts and share a meal. This month will focus on the Easter story, especially Palm Sunday, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, as well as making Messy Church’s exhibit for the Horticultural Society’s Spring Show.

Toddlers: Northiam Tadpoles baby & toddler group meet every Tuesday 9.15 - 11.15am at Pretious Sports Hall, Main Street (the hall between the primary school and nursery.) The session is £2.50 per family (to cover costs) for age 0-5’s which includes a healthy snack for the children, drinks and biscuits for the parents/carers, there are lots of toys out for all ages and finishes with song time.

Showtimers: Showtimers are planning this year’s variety show which will take place in September. If you have a secret longing to discover your inner thespian, your village needs you! Call Geoff or Caroline (252918) if you would like to be a part of Showtimers. You don’t have to perform – there is always work to be done behind the scenes – technical, costume, front of house, marketing etc, and great fun to be had along the way.

Talent Evening A new date has been arranged for this event – Friday May 20 in the Sedlescombe village hall, at 7pm . We expect to see singers , dancers, jugglers , musicians , in fact all types of entertainment are welcome to join in from the local and surrounding area. Places will be limited to allow for a fair opportunity for all taking part. There is no fee to enter and there will be a £100 awarded to the winner and runner up prizes too.
