RAINFALL: Our usual monthly call from Diana to tell that during September we had 76 and a half mm , equal to 3 inches, of rain.

Last Wednesday a cow gave birth to a calf, it was born with an inch thick woolly coat all ready for winter. It has been named Blackberry, mother is very protective!

On Wednesday, October 15 Diana will be giving an illustrated talk to the Methodist Guild.

NINFIELD WORKING MEN'S CLUB: The recent funday was a great success and raised the princely sum of 703.89p..

I am grateful to MaureenN who rang to tell me that the committee have decided to donate 450 to their Children's Christmas Party. This is held for the children of the members , the parents and grandparents. There is entertainment and each child receives a present. A wonderful time is forecast.

The sum of 253.89p will be given to Ninfield Youth Forum which will be most gratefully received by all the young people involved and Parish Councillor Sam Guard and Parish Councillor Kaye Crittell who work with them.

FARMERS MARKET: The next one will be tomorrow from 10am until noon. If you have not yet visited this regular monthly event don't miss this opportunity to find a good food bargain.

NINFIELD PARISH COUNCIL: At the meeting on October 2 there were, as usual, many interesting items on the agenda. It was agreed the cricket square needs protection, this will be considered. The B2095 petition is available in the village shop, the post office, the surgery and the Red Lion in Hooe. If you agree that large, heavy vehicles should not be encouraged to use the B2095 through Hooe and into Ninfield the addition of your signature may help.

The chairman was happy to report that the tarmac path across the recreation ground had been completed. This was created to accommodate families living in Stocks Meadow and Smith Close who do not use the twitten when they take their children to school.

When School Parking was discussed Mr Kent, the chairman, suggested that it might be beneficial to tarmac the area to the right of the recreation ground gate in Church Lane to facilitate this. The suggestion was not warmly received. The children's playground requires some repairs, it was agreed these would be carries out. Mention was made that the most recent work on the drains at the Kings Arms appears to have solved the problem. It was agreed that recreation ground rents would be an item on the next agenda.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 6 at 7.15pm in the Methodist Church Hall, Ninfield.
