New print room opens at Rye’s School Creative Centre

A print room now provides facilities for mono, drypoint and solar plate printing for its resident artists and the general public.

The newly acquired printing press was made possible by a capacity grant from the Arts Council and is one of many new initiates implemented by the management team to secure the centre’s place as a leading creative environment for established and emerging artists in the county.

Resident artist Elizabeth Barton - an experienced print maker says: “I am delighted to have access to such a great resource so close to my studio this will really benefit my practice and I can’t wait to get going on some new prints”.

The print room will be managed by the resident artists many of whom will be offering workshops and individual tuition throughout the year.

Award-winning artist Nicholas Archer, who already runs a successful range of courses at The School, echo’s Barton and says: “The print room not only enables me to extend my practice but also helps provide me with an income through the new courses I can now offer .”

The Print room will be open from 10am-4pm daily for hires to experienced printmakers, with workshops available for those wishing to develop their skills. Hire rates are great value at just £17.50 per half day or £28 for a full day, including tools and various sundries; paper is not included, but is available at cost price. All users will need to undertake a short induction session.
